Network Marketing Success

by TexasJackFlash on September 2, 2009

A lot is said about why people fail in network marketing. Most of the time this is said to sell you on their opportunity and convince you that by joining them you will now be successful. I would rather talk about what makes people successful.

The truth of the matter is that if it is going to be it is up to you. You have to make the decision that you are going to be successful. My mentor Brad Hager says it best when is says that making a decision is over rated and managing a decision is under rated. What that means is that so many people sign up for a network marketing opportunity and get excited and say they are going to do this and make a lot of money and then the first dream stealer comes along (usually a spouse or close friend) and tells them they can’t do this and nobody makes money in those things and they lose their fire and quit. This is a perfect example of not managing a decison. What should happen at this point is for you to remember that you made the decision to do this and remind yourself that you are going to do it no matter what anyone says.

This is something that is a constant process that must be faced on a moment to moment basis. Brad also says that naysayers will drive you out of the business or into the business, your choice. Naysayers and dream stealers have always been there and always will be. They are just part of the journey of putting your dream to the test. By the way, a good book to read on this is John C. Maxwell’s new book,”Putting Your Dream To The Test”, a great book.

When I first got started in this industry over 7 years ago I was amazed at how many people tried to take away my dream. At first I was hurt by it because that is something I would never do to someone else. I learned very quickly not to take it personally and let it roll of my back and manage the decision I had made to be successful.  I remember when my wife Misha and I first hit the 20,000 plus monthly income, Brad Hager asked us how we did it. We said we made a decision to do it. He floored me for a second when he said “No you didn’t.” Then he said, “What you did was manage that decison on a daily basis.” I had never heard it said that way and it was so profound for me that I have never forgotten it.

Thinking about it afterwards caused me to remember all the times people laughed at us or told us it was a scam or blah, blah, blah. Every time that happened we let that drive us deeper into the business and became more determined to become successful. After all, it was our dream, not theirs. Don’t expect everyone to cheer you on because you are excited, some will ,some won’t, so what. Let it roll off your back. Manage the decision you made and never quit and that is the best guarantee you can have of success.

Simple? Yes. Easy? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Either way it all comes down to me and managing the decision I made and never, ever giving up. If you do this, you cannot fail. I know and believe this because I have proven it. Success is about managing the decision. I will cheer you on every step of the way!
